Thank you to everyone who came to this years’ NEUS meeting. It was a great turnout and with 62 delegates it was our biggest NEUS on record. It was excellent to see so many of our Specialist/Ward Nurses come along.

There were some fantastic trainee presentations in the morning and afternoon sessions. Congratulations to Meenakshi Kurup who won the morning short poster presentation prize of £100 for her poster on a testicular assessment clinic. The podium presentation winner was Kamran Haq for his presentation on MRI in prostate cancer. As well as £150 he was also awarded the inaugural Professor Rob Pickard Memorial Plate by Caroline, Robs wife. It was an honour to have her come to present the prize. The abstracts will remain on the NEUS website to review if people are interested.

There were some great cutting edge talks in the morning and afternoon on both benign and malignant topics by highly regarded clinicians. Many thanks to those who provided such good lectures. The ‘debate’ session sparked some good discussion! The feedback forms showed that people thought the day was the worth the 6 CPD points it has been granted by BAUS and was a useful opportunity to keep up to date on urological issues. Several people did not pick up their CPD certificate. If you would like yours posting or sent electronically please contact Deb (Deborah.wood1@nhs.net).

Some photos are attached but do check out the NEUS website news section for more (www.neus.org.uk/news) and also the NEUS twitter handle has more (@NE_Urol). SpR’s Simon Morton and Kenny McKenzie were co-opted onto the NEUS committee this year and have been helpful in improving the website and social media of NEUS. Mr Thomas’ slides from the business meeting this year will also be on the website soon and are worth looking at. There were some interesting discussions with Duncan Summerton, the BAUS President, on a number of topics.

The feedback forms didn’t give room for free text. If you have suggestions on how we can improve NEUS or possible topics to cover next year, please let me know (alistair.rogers@nuth.nhs.uk).

The date for next years’ NEUS meeting will be confirmed in the new year so keep an eye out for it. It will be in November 2019. Let’s go bigger and better…….

It may be early but have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!

NEUS Committee.
